We see Caroline's foster parents -- 10 years later!

We are in Nanning where we spent a lovely evening having dinner with Caroline's foster parents, their 7-year-old daughter and the wonderful Helen, who translated everything for us. They were clearly so happy to see their Dian Dian again!

We shared photos, and told them stories of what her adjustment was like when she came home with us and what she is doing now. They told us how Mr. Huang was always the one to get up in the middle of the night for diaper changes and feedings; how if he went away on business Caroline was so happy to see him come home, and how much she loved to eat! They told us they named her Dian Dian, which means "little one," because she was so much smaller than the other children her age. They also said they decided to take her home with them at night (they worked at the orphanage) because when Mrs. Wei would go into the baby room, Caroline would be so happy to see her.

I told them how much I appreciated the love they had given Caroline at the beginning of her life, and they told us how happy they were to see her happy and doing well. We now have their e-mail address, so it will be easier to stay in touch and send pictures.

I am so happy we made the effort to come to Nanning to see them.

Tomorrow we have a free day to wander around Nanning. It will be nice to be schedule-free for just one day
