Santa 25 No Downstairs!

Arriving home with us so soon before Christmas, we knew Alex had no chance of explaining every crazy thing about this holiday, let alone the religious significance. His English just isn't up to it yet. But Caroline took on the task of explaining the basics of what happens Christmas Eve.

So now he knows that on December 25, during the night, Santa will come with toys. He knows he cannot go downstairs until Mama says so; that if he goes downstairs Santa will be sad and won't leave any toys. He knows that some of the cookies we made are for Santa, who will eat lots of cookies that night and get even fatter!

Many times a day now we hear, "Santa 25 no downstairs!" He knows where December 25 is on the calendar, and he is very much looking forward to it.

He loved decorating our tree, and today I think we will get the outdoor decorations up.

Alex loves all the ornaments but the musical snow globes were, of course, fascinating.
